How Missed-Call Text Back Works

Missed-call text back is one of the simplest automations a service business can install, and usually the one with the fastest visible return.

The trigger

Your business number is connected to a messaging-capable system. When a call rings through without being answered — during hours, after hours, or while you are on another call — the system registers the missed call.

The message

Within seconds the caller receives an SMS from your business number. Effective copy is short: your business name, a brief apology, and one clear question asking what they need.

You can vary the message by time of day so evenings and weekends set accurate expectations about response time.

The conversation

When the customer replies, the thread lands in a shared inbox in your CRM. Anyone on your team can respond from a phone or computer, and the entire history stays attached to the contact.

The record

A contact and an opportunity are created automatically, tagged with the source, and placed in your pipeline. Follow-up tasks and sequences can run from there.

The compliance part

Business messaging requires A2P registration with the carriers. Without it, messages are likely to be filtered. Registration typically takes several days to two weeks and is handled during setup.
