How to Get More Google Reviews Without Being Pushy
Most service businesses have far fewer reviews than satisfied customers. The gap is almost never about quality. It is about asking inconsistently.
Ask every single time
A business that asks 100% of customers and converts 20% will beat a business that asks 20% of customers and converts 50%. Consistency is the whole strategy, which is why it should be automated.
Timing beats wording
Send the request shortly after the work is complete, while the impression is fresh and specific. A request two weeks later gets a vague review, if any.
Make the path one tap
Text a direct link to your Google review form. Every extra step — an email, a landing page, a login — loses a meaningful share of people.
One reminder, then stop
A single polite follow-up a few days later noticeably increases responses. A third and fourth ask starts to annoy people. Stop at two.
What never to do
Do not offer discounts or gifts for reviews, do not screen customers to filter out negatives, and do not write reviews yourself. All of it violates platform policy and risks your profile.
Ask everyone, respond to everything, and let the average reflect your work.
