What Is Local SEO?
Local SEO is the work of appearing when someone nearby searches for what you do. It overlaps with regular SEO but has its own rules, because Google treats local intent differently.
The two result types
The map pack, driven largely by your Google Business Profile, proximity, and reviews. And the organic links below it, driven by your website's content and structure.
What influences the map pack
Category selection, service and service-area configuration, proximity to the searcher, review volume and recency, profile completeness and activity, and consistent business information across the web.
What influences organic local results
Dedicated service pages, genuinely useful location pages, page speed, mobile usability, internal linking, schema markup, and content that answers pre-purchase questions.
What to be skeptical about
Guaranteed rankings, hundreds of near-identical city pages, purchased directory links in bulk, and anyone who will not tell you what they are actually doing each month.
A reasonable timeline
